What began as a beautiful sentiment has grown to become an important new initiative. One that helps keep our phone lines open for people struggling to cope. Supported by Coillte and the Tree Council of Ireland, by sponsoring a Native Irish tree planted in our Forest of Hope, you can become part of a community supporting Dublin Samaritans work, while at the same time being part of a positive environmentally sustainable project.
Let's grow a forest of hope together.
We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
In Prisons, schools and across our community, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

Our incredible volunteers run 24 branches across Ireland. The Dublin branch has 284 volunteers who are there day and night offering emotional support to callers, 24/7 365 days a year.
Above all you’ll have the incredible satisfaction of knowing you’re helping people who are in despair. In addition, you’ll learn valuable new skills, make new friendships, and be part of an amazing group of people.
There are lots of ways you can volunteer for Samaritans, it all depends on what skills you have and how much time you’ve got to give.
Listening volunteers answer calls and messages from people who really need someone to talk to. You’ll be based in your local branch.
Without the generosity and expertise of our partners, Coillte and the Tree Council of Ireland, our ‘Forest of Hope’ would not be possible.
Their commitment to Dublin Samaritans, and our mission to provide emotional support to anyone feeling overwhelmed, has seen Coillte providing over 1,000 trees so far at Glenmalure. By sponsoring a tree you will be enabling us to maintain our service, while at the same time delivering on our vision that fewer people die by suicide.
When these trees are planted with Coillte’s guidance, they will grow and protect nature; and contribute to how we tackle climate change for years to come. So through your sponsorship and support, hope will become sustainable in the lives of those who need us; and for all who share our environment.
Our Volunteers are looking forward to seeing our friends and supporters at the following Festive Season events.
